Sometimes I have unrealistic expectations.
For instance, I envision that my kitchen looks like this...

(courtesy of HGTV)
when it really looks more like this.
And I think that my bedroom should more closely resemble this...

(also courtesy of HGTV)
when it actually looks like this hot mess...
(We won't actually discuss how many days the clothes were
transferred from the floor to the bed before they were finally folded.
After all, there's no need to judge.)
And oooooh how I would love for my living room to look like this

(courtesy of HGTV)
instead of the conglomeration of furniture, preschool toys, and stray dog hairs that it is.
But, you know what?
If I spent all my life making my house look like those pictures above, there wouldn't be any time for things like putting together this fabulous train track.
I think I like reality better.
13 coins in my pocket:
What were you thinking, posting pictures of my *lived in* house? Oh, what, that's your house under there? I totally thought it was mine! Reality is good.
That's a great train set!! My LR looks the same way, only we don't have all the bells and whistles on the tracks.
But, I think your LR looks better with the redhead in it.
That's one incredible train set design... did you do that yourself? I know from experience that it takes some skill to create something like that.=)
...hmmm I don't know...that's a pretty fabulous kitchen! the redhead is a keeper!
Fantasy is fun for dreaming and escapism...
Real life is way much better. Of course.
(As I sit here looking at the pile of dirty dishes in my sink. Yuck.)
p.s.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Much love and kisses to you (from me, not Jason) on your birthday.
Reality is so much better....!
....but that kitchen - wow! ;)
ps - love love love the train track!
Happy belated birfday....:)
It's always nice to dream. I know that some day my kids will be gone and I'll wish they were there to mess the house up and give me something to do.....:)
However, I will enjoy finding things to do with all my spare time. I've got like 15-20 years before that's even a possibility...
what am I even talking about?
Jesus is coming back before that...right?
great perspective. thanks caro
Yep, I'd much rather spend the day playing with my kiddos than making my house look like that.
However, it would be nice to have a housekeeper and a personal decorator who would make my house awesome, WHILE I am playing...
Oh, it is nice to dream, isn't it?
Amen, sister!
I hear ya!!!!
AS you can tell from the HGTV pictures, no one lives in those houses! How could they, it would get cluttered. I prefer the lived in look, it says home to me. Love the train set, another Thomas kid in the making. Love that!!!
