with these...

That's right friends, today begins our 3-day potty training adventure. I'm excited and the redhead is too. I've been telling him all week that babies wear diapers and big boys wear underwear and pee-pee and poo-poo on the potty. I've read up on what I need to do and I'm ready to do it. Underwear a plenty has been purchased (19 pairs in all), rewards and treats are at the ready (stickers and M & M's along with Matchbox cars for those really proud moments), and I've got the potty chart all set to go to track his success.
By the time you read this, he'll already have his big boy pants on and there will not be a diaper/pull-up to be found in our abode.
Accidents...oh I know they will happen - and often over the next couple days.
Frustration...it will come, but I can't let it show - this is all about positive reinforcement.
One thing I am absolutely sure of is that failure is NOT AN OPTION. I refuse to look back. He's ready and I'm ready, so off we go!
I'll only be able to check back in and give updates/pictures while he's sleeping since I have to watch him like a hawk the rest of the time. Hopefully, I'll be able to share the whole rundown on Thursday at some point.
BTW, if you're curious about what method I'm doing, here's the website...

I covet your prayers and encouragement, especially from those of your who have been in my shoes. And Nan, we'll probably be talking at some point over the next three days. Be prepared!

18 coins in my pocket:
How exciting. Keep us updated!
I am so ready! Call me anytime!
very exciting. you have my prayers, for sure... potty training is not one of my favorite activities, but it goes so easy for some! hopefully, that'll be you.=)
I hope all goes well. I am sure you two will do great!
Yeah, whatever.
I feel it is my duty to ruin your day by letting you know that we did this. Last week. The 3-day thing.
Whatever.
This week we are wearing Pull-Ups. Sackcloths have been donned. Fleeces have been laid. Wailing and gnashing of teeth has commenced. I am also penning this comment to you while lying prostrate on the floor.
We are trying again next week. This time there will be HEAVY drinking involved. On my part.
Whatever.
But I do wish you well. Kind of. Not really. Everyone should struggle as I have. Because Libbey took 2 days...TWO FREAKIN' DAYS, at 2 years of age...and then, voila! Trained. No accidents since. Never looked back. She is the golden child.
What is it about girls named Caroline? Willful, I tell you.
Whatever.
Good luck. Such an exciting time! It was so nice to go to the store and have an extra $10 - $20 from not buying diapers and pull-ups.
We bought this great book called "Piggy and Bear in their Underwear" to keep reinforcing the fact about wearing underwear. Piggy and Bear have special underwear for each day of the week that your child picks out and puts them on Piggy and Bear. It has a little rhyme "No more stinky diapers, we've thrown our diapers away..."
Can't wait to hear all about it! Why you not return my calls, seestar???
here's to potty training! whoo-hoo - and call me if you can't get nan - even though asher was early at this, he still needs the reminders and encouragement...and sometimes the m and m's. don't give in - this too shall pass! ok, that's all the pep i've got for now!
Good Luck! I have just not had the patience to do it in 'three' days. When they are ready they do it. Lazy? Maybe, with all the kids I have, some started early, while one...well....one day we hope.....haha!
Anyway, have fun, hope there are not too many accidents.
fingers crossed, eyes crossed, everything wishing you best of luck! If you can do it, I could do it......! A diaper free household sounds pretty heavenly right now :)!
Good luck little guy!!!
I can't wait to hear how it goes! I am SO nervous about potty training THREE....:(
Obviously I have never potty trained anyone. But I just want to say . . . I don't think that I have nineteen pairs of underwear. hehehehe.
Pave the way...take notes...I'll be calling you in a couple years.
Good luck, I will be sending good wishes your way, and I will not tell my horror stories here either. Nope not gonna kill good karma..........but I made you curious didn't I - bawhaaaaa
Just hopped on your site from Chatting at the Sky. I'm training 4 little ones and a 7yr old (don't ask you REALLY don't want to know). I have a daycare in my home. They are doing ok but I will tell you to be armed with tons of patience! Good luck.
Best of luck to you! I don't use a specific method, but I call it "Commando Style" potty training and my boys were both trained from start to finish in 3-5 days. I'm gonna start my youngest soon. She's ready but I'm not yet. :)
Be strong!
Been on both sides of this coin. I've had easy pee-er/poopers and I've had accident prone-hide-in-the-corner-while-mommy's-cooking-supper-and-poop-in-my-pants..ers.
It's generally, not a fun experience. Emmy was by far the easiest. I don't know why, but I don't really remember ever potty training her. Lauren, on the other hand, well, see Lula's comment. Been there, done that. Don't wanna ever go back.
My best goes out to you on this little venture. I pray you have an Emmy and not a Lauren.
