Several days ago, Nan so graciously tagged me for a meme. You might be asking (as I did) "what the heck is a meme?". Well, Nan also so graciously informed me of the meaning of this word. Pronounced as me-me, it is just that, information all about me. This particular meme, I believe, has to do with "Five classes I wish had been taught in school". Here are my thoughts:
As a side note, this has been an excruciatingly difficult post to write because I have struggled so much to come up with 5 things. Who would have thought this would be so hard?
1. Practical Joking - Man, could I have used this to give me a leg up in college! Some of my hardest laughs have come doing practical jokes - clean ones - on other people. Putting Orajel on toothbrushes, tying soda cans to a car bumper, filling a car to the brim with lifejackets, strategically placed fake dog poo...you get the idea. A few more jokes and I could almost teach the class!
2. Sound Effects 101 - These can be so useful in many a situation. They also prove highly effective in entertaining whiny toddlers in the checkout line at Wal-Mart!
3. Driving in Charlotte, NC - Having lived in Charlotte for 18 years, I learned to navigate certain areas of the Queen City with relative ease. I cannot even imagine the turmoil that newcomers experience when driving in Charlotte. One road can (literally) have 5 different names. There is no easy way to get anywhere. There are no courteous drivers (that goes for any city). There's also lots of traffic - UGH.
4. Driving in General - Okay, let me just say that the regular driver's ed is a JOKE! They need to offer Driver's Ed with an Edge. Even though I don't live in a major metropolitan area, I have seen my fair share of poor - no, just plain STUPID drivers. For instance, today, a stoplight was out at an intersection. This intersection isn't that big, but on the busier street, the light was blinking yellow while the light for the other street was blinking red. I was stopped at the blinking red light waiting ever so patiently to turn left when all of a sudden this woman on the blinking yellow street comes to a complete stop in the intersection. I looked at her and waved her on as if to say "Hey, moron, since when does blinking yellow mean stop?" She didn't move. Okay, if she wasn't actually driving a car I might have thought she was blind. The car stopped opposite of me was waiting for her too, but didn't budge either. I helped myself and entered that intersection and went on my merry way all the while thinking, gee, this would be good material for the "5 classes you wish they had taught in school." I wouldn't need to attend this class though because as my mother used to tell me... "Its not you I worry about, its all the other drivers". Exactly.
5. How To Survive All the Unnecessary Drama of the Teen Years - Need I say more?
Now I tag all of you who haven't been tagged for a meme. Write, if you will, on the "5 Classes you wish had been taught in school".
