Zippety Zoo Da

Adam and I decided to take advantage of a nice cool day and go to the NC Zoo this morning. We purchased a membership last October for Wesley's 1st Birthday, so we can go whenever our hearts desire. Wesley loves animals and now that he is fast approaching 2, we figured he'll enjoy zoo trips even more. Today turned out to be a great day to go despite the umpteen school groups that we had to navigate around. The animals were very active and close to the overlooks (as you'll see from some of the pictures). The Zoo recently opened the Watani Grasslands Reserve. In the reserve, there are more walkways to take visitors much closer to the elephant and rhino habitats instead of seeing them from a distance. Its really cool! I wish I could post all the pictures, but there were like 40-some, so I am going to spare you my amateur photography and just give you the highlights.

Prior to this stellar picture, this elephant went No. 1 and No. 2 right before our very eyes. Adam was most impressed by the fact that Mr. Elephant's No. 1 so closely resembled a fire hose releasing gallons and gallons of water. Seriously!

Personally, this is my favorite animal to see...

He was so worn out, poor little monkey. Isn't he sweet though? Too bad he didn't continue sleeping very well at home this afternoon!

2 coins in my pocket:

You'll love the animals that you meet at the zoo when I bring my class in two weeks and you help chaperone! Oops, did I call my class animals? :) They will love it- can't wait to watch their excitement and their excitement over Wesley!
